Mangaluru Student Bharatanatyam World Record: While most people take breaks after a few minutes of dancing, one young girl from Mangaluru danced for 170 hours straight, and the world couldn’t stop watching. Meet Remona Evette Pereira, a student from St. Aloysius College, who just set a jaw-dropping world record by performing Bharatanatyam non-stop for eight days. Her name is now proudly entered into the Golden Book of World Records, and her story has taken the internet by storm.
A Spiritual Start To An Unbelievable Journey:
Remona’s marathon performance began with a prayer to Lord Ganesha on July 21 and ended with a graceful ballet and a final prayer to Goddess Durga the following Monday. For the entire 8 days, she danced with full energy, taking only a 5-minute break every hour and a 15-minute rest after every 3 hours. Even with this exhausting schedule, she never missed a step. Her expressions, hand movements, and footwork stayed sharp from the first beat to the last.
Trained Since The Age Of 3:
Remona’s love for dance began early. At just three years old, she started learning Bharatanatyam under the guidance of her guru, Shrividya Muralidhar. Years of hard training led to her big moment, her Rangapravesha (first solo stage performance) in 2019. Her guru proudly said, "Remona has brought great honour to Tulu Nadu and the entire country."
More Than Just Bharatanatyam:
What makes Remona even more special is her ability to master many dance styles. She doesn’t just stick to classical, she shines in:
- Folk and semi-classical
- Hip hop and Bollywood
- Latin and ballroom
- Acrobatics And Fusion
She’s also known for her daring acts, like dancing on broken glass and nail boards, balancing on mud and copper pots, performing with fire hula hoops, and even making tea on her head while dancing! Talk about bold and fearless.
A Moment That Made the Nation Proud:
As her video spread across social media, people from all over India began cheering her on. Thousands sent their love, admiration, and respect. For many young dancers, she has become a new symbol of dedication and courage.
