It seems like every employee’s dream to have a ‘toxic workplace free’ world will always remain a dream as employers apparently are in no mood to make the work environment more breathable and comfortable- Or so the internet believes, based on yet another ‘toxic workplace’ related incident which left the netizens sleepless. A post was shared on social media, which had a picture of a notice that was issued in an office. Believe it or not, the notice asked the employees to not take any kind of leave- including sick leaves- during the holiday season. The notice read, “From November 25TH, until December 31st, there is a blackout on vacation days, and time off, and there will be no exceptions for calling off, taking sick days, given that these are our busiest days of the year, we will need all hands on deck. Thank you.”

The post went viral on social media, leaving people sharing their 2 cents. Most criticised the company’s problematic expectations, while the rest suggested leaving the organisation. Many also recalled their own incidents.

The post was shared on Reddit, by the handle ‘Goodn00dl3’. The post was captioned, “Why does corporate think this is ok?.” It further read, “God forbid I get sick. Company doesn’t give a sh*t.” The post was shared a day ago and pulled 82K upvotes from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “This seems like it is probably retail. I love how this sign acts like they will fire you for being sick, except here is the thing….they NEED you too. They need all hands on deck, remember? That portion of the note is a scare tactic. I’d make every effort to be there, sure. But if I had a fever or something, I’d still call in and roll the dice. It’s easier to wait on a good employee to get well than it is to hire a new one,” a user said.

“I always make sure to let an employer know I don't work holidays. It is up to them to hire me or not,” added a second person. “Restaurant industry too. I work in public education now and it’s great. I call in sick on a random day and no one bats an eye. I will never go back to restaurants,” commented a third. “This is sick,” added a fourth user.
