LinkedIn Viral Post: Pulling all-nighters to finish assignments may seem impressive but a Delhi University professor’s message is reminding students that health should never take a back seat. Dr. Kavita Kamboj recently shared a post on LinkedIn that has gone viral, after one of her students submitted an assignment at 3:49 am. While many would praise such dedication, she chose to send a different kind of message.
Instead of celebrating the late-night effort, Dr. Kamboj highlighted the importance of balance. “There is no need to sacrifice your sleep for work that can always be managed with better planning,” she wrote. According to her, real success comes when work is done with proper rest, energy and clarity, not by losing sleep. She further added, “Without proper rest, even the best efforts lose their meaning. Plan your day well. Sleep well. Work with energy and clarity. Your well-being matters more than deadlines.”
Along with her post, Dr. Kamboj also shared a screenshot of her response to the student. While appreciating the quality of their work, she gently reminded them, “You have done a wonderful job. Just one request, you don’t need to work long hours. You can always make extra time without giving up your sleep. If you sacrifice your rest for work, it makes no sense.” She even encouraged the student to call her after “a good sleep and breakfast.”
Her empathetic note struck a chord with both students and professionals, many of whom admitted they often ignore their health for deadlines.
