EY Pune CA Death: It’s sad how toxic work culture has reached a level where it is considered rather ‘normal’ and something that is meant to ‘toughen’ employees. Mostly, it’s the less experienced newcomers who face the worst treatment with justifications stemming from such toxic expectations. From getting next to no paid and rightful leaves to working hours that go well beyond the standard 8 to 9 hours, offices and corporations have, in fact, become popular for such inhumane working conditions. Bringing the same toxicity to light in the most saddening and horrifying manner, the news of a young CA dying out of an ‘overwhelming workload’ went viral and left people furious and reacting. Anna Sebastian Perayil was a young and promising 26-year-old girl who joined the multinational consulting firm Ernst & Young (EY) in Pune a few months back. However, it was ‘work pressure’ leading to major health complications that eventually took her life, as per her mother Anita Augustine.

As soon as the incident began to go viral, netizens took to social media and were quick to chastise MNCs and EY Pune specifically, as many demanded action. Amid the backlash, Perayil’s mother’s heartbreaking letter to Rajiv Memani- Chairman of EY India- only fueled the fire as it further left people emotional and demanded a countrywide change. As per reports, a statement issued by EY Pune was recently shared on the internet, which went viral.

Soon after the letter, another set of letters and POVs came forward, where EY Pune employees opened up about the ‘toxic work culture’ that was ‘common’ for the organisation. From calling Perayil’s team leads ‘responsible’ for the death to demanding action against them, people are also circulating the LinkedIn IDs of the late CA’s seniors.

Taking to social media, people shared the troubling POVs.

“More dark truths are coming out from toxic work culture,” a user said.

“The third class people at EY Pune responsible for making people’s lives heII at EY and responsible for the death of Anna Sebastian Perayil are apparently Ridhi Kejriwal and Animesh Jain. Not posting a pic of Animesh because there’s many working at EY. Time is UP,” added a second person.

“More regarding EY Pune,” added a third person.

“Spoken to someone from EY Pune, where Anna’s worked. She was & many others are working in toxic & in-human work culture. This letter from her mother (Anita Ji) is not just a cry of pain, it’s a whistleblow against a corporate work culture. Anna may never come back, but her tragic story must ignite change. I wish - her story be the last of its kind,” added a fourth user.

“The Assistant Manager at EY Pune,” added a fifth person.

“That manager needs to be booked for Involuntary manslaughter. A statement from a person working in the same @EYnews #pune death,” added another.
