Gen Z Employee Viral Post: A small WhatsApp chat between a boss and his Gen Z employee has suddenly become the internet’s new debate topic, all thanks to Delhi’s choking pollution. The screenshot has gone viral, and people can’t stop discussing how differently the younger generation talks about health and work. The story began when a millennial boss received a short message from his employee, who was dealing with eye irritation due to the city’s extremely toxic air.

Without any long explanation, the employee wrote, "I won’t be able to work today. My eyes are burning." The boss immediately responded with a simple "Ok." Everything seemed normal until the boss later posted the screenshot on X (formerly Twitter). Sharing the chat, he captioned it, “Amid severe Delhi pollution, I received an order from my employee today. GenZ is really straightforward!"

That’s when the internet jumped in. The post shared yesterday received 172K views from X users. Many users quickly took the employee’s side, saying the message was just honest and clear, not an order. Several people pointed out that the employee was simply stating their health issue and that the younger generation is more direct when it comes to prioritising well-being.

One user wrote, "My Alpha GenZ direct report texted me that he broke up with his gf and needs time to recover.. I gave him 1 week's paid leave instead. He showed up next week, saying they had both made up again. Imagine the reconciliatory power that a boss can have." "Love how straightforward they are. No drama, no excuses, just honesty, exactly how it should be," a second user wrote.

"I predict a drastic increase in such cases now. Sick leaves due to air pollution. I spent a few days in Pune last week and have had a sore throat since. I could tell that this wasn't your average common cold. Getting better now after returning to my small town," wrote a third user. "How is this an order? He just informed? Isn’t this how one should inform? If he is sick, he is sick," added a fourth user.
