Gurgaon Waterlogged Street Viral Video: A short spell of rain in Gurgaon has once again shown how unprepared the city is for the monsoon. In just 40 to 50 minutes, the streets were waterlogged, traffic came to a halt, and chaos took over. A video capturing the scene has now gone viral on X (formerly Twitter). The clip, shared by Aashish Kumar, shows cars struggling to move through knee-deep water. Roads looked more like rivers, and the caption summed it up perfectly: “Just what 40-50 mins of rain can do.” It didn’t take long for the video to catch attention online.
People on social media reacted quickly, some with sarcasm, others with frustration. Many pointed out how one short rain shower was enough to shut down parts of the city, once again raising questions about Gurgaon’s drainage system.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an orange alert for Gurugram and nearby areas. An official said, “Moderate rainfall is expected to take place in Gurugram, Sohna, Tauru, Ballabhgarh, Faridabad, and other areas with lightning and thunderstorms.” As the clip continues to make rounds online, many are asking, How can such a fast-growing city come to a standstill after just a few minutes of rain?

The video received many reactions from X users. "Rafts will soon be a seasonal necessity to commute through the Venice of the north to reach the destination," a user wrote. "Venice would be jealous of Gurgaon in the rain," a second user added.
"One spell of rain and the entire area turns into a flood zone. Where is the drainage planning? Where is the infrastructure?" asked the third user. "All major cities are going through the same problem. The public is not interested, and politicians don't care," added another user.
"This is the situation in cybercity where a flat cost you 100cr. Imagine the situation in the rest of Gurugram. Unimaginable how long the public will suffer? When will authority take the drainage system seriously?" a fifth user added. "Gurgaon has the worst basic amenities as compared to other cities in NCR, especially roads, and the drainage system is not up to the mark," added another user.
