No matter how expensive one’s purchases are, the price of those carry bags never justifies the means. But what can one do other than just going with it? Well, a lot and that is exactly what this Bengaluru woman did- a lot. After shopping for worth Rs 2,428 from IKEA Bengaluru, Sangeetha Bohra was asked to pay Rs 20 for the carry bag, according to the reports. However, unlike the rest, Bohra did not give in and instead decided to oppose the price for a carryback with the brand’s name on it. Maintaining her stance over the matter, Bohra reportedly held an argument with the store staff but to no avail, as in the end, she was compelled to pay for the carry bag. However, the incident did not die down after it took place in October, as the customer decided to take the matter further.

Soon, Bohra sent a legal notice to the store, however, that step too was of no use as the company reportedly did not pay her a dime. Finally, she reportedly took the matter to the consumer disputes redressal commission of Bengaluru Urban in March 2023. The case went on for a few months, leading to the Court passing its judgement in October this year. Passing the verdict in favour of the woman, the Court asked IKEA to refund Bohra Rs 20 back, along with a compensation of Rs 3000, according to the reports.

Trouble with customers is not new for IKEA in Bengaluru, as a while back, the store faced major embarrassment and backlash after a woman’s post regarding a dead rat falling on her table from the roof in IKEA went viral on the internet. The store later apologised.
