Viral Video: An Indian mom living in Canada recently went viral for using a child leash during her family vacation in New York. Shubhangi Jagota shared a video on Instagram showing her 3.5-year-old son happily running around Times Square while being safely tied to his dad with a leash. The internet had mixed feelings about the video. Some people loved the idea and called it a smart parenting move, while others criticised her for putting her child on a leash. But Shubhangi stood by her decision. She explained that her son loves exploring and never stays still. She didn’t want to stop his fun but also didn’t want to worry about him running off in the busy streets. So the leash helped them keep him safe while letting him enjoy the trip.

She wrote, “He’s 3.5 and we’re not ashamed to say we put him on a leash. In a city like New York, this was hands-down the best decision for our trip.” She even added a funny bit, her son believed they were the ones on the leash. He called himself the sheriff and his parents the captives. “Honestly, everyone was winning,” she said.

They also used two types of leashes, "We ordered a set of 2 —one 8.2 ft and one 4.92 ft. We used the longer one for NYC and it worked out perfectly." The clip went viral, sparking debate. Many parents could relate to the struggle of keeping little ones safe in a big, crowded city.

Handling kids outside is not easy. No matter what other says, this is the wisest decision," a user wrote. "To people who think this is not a good idea, have no idea how fast these munchkins take off," a second user added. "We know our kids better than anyone else. And I for sure know my kid is naughty and always over-excited! And I will do what I can to keep him safe !! It’s absolutely NONE of anybody’s business," added a third user.

"The first time I saw this in a New York museum on a kid, I kinda judged the parent and then 5 minutes later saw why the kid was leashed and silently admitted what a brilliant thing it is:))))) So no shaming at all, you gotta do what you gotta do," a fourth user added. "Imagine losing him in NYC with thousands of people around!? For sure you should use the leash so you don’t lose him. My sisters used it many years ago on my nephews when we went to the theme parks in Orlando. People who haven’t been around kids for too long don’t realize they can disappear with one blink because they’re sneaky," added another user.
