From urinating on fellow passengers to harassing people, incidents related to people committing indecent acts onboard flights have increased in the past few months. Many such cases have been reported in recent months. A similar incident again made headlines where an Indian-American allegedly masturbated in front of a minor. The 14-year-old witnessed the lewd act while she was travelling from Hawaii to Boston last year. Now, bringing justice to the matter, the FBI has arrested the accused. The incident was shared on social media by the official X handle (formerly Twitter) of FBI Boston.

The accused is a doctor and is reported out after an appearance before the federal court, but he may face imprisonment for 90 days if proven guilty. Apart from the sentence, the accused will also be fined up to USD 5,000 along with one year of supervised release, according to reports.

An affidavit has been filed against the 33-year-old accused. The incident took place in May last year, according to the affidavit. Taking to social media, the FBI Boston captioned the post, “Today, #FBI Boston special agents arrested Dr. Sudipta Mohanty for allegedly committing lewd acts within the view of a 14-year-old female seated next to him onboard a flight from Honolulu to Boston in May 2022.”

The authorities also urged the people to contact the FBI if a similar incident takes place with them onboard a flight. Taking to the comment section, the netizens thanked the FBI for taking action against the man. “Thank you, FBI,” a user said. “Good job,” a second said. “Finally the fbi has done something worthwhile,” joined a third.

However, on being questioned, the accused denied committing the act and said, “I have no recollection of that,” according to the reports from the authorities.
