Canadian teen rapper Lil Tay has refuted the rumours of her death and has reportedly claimed that her Instagram account was hacked. For the unversed, it was earlier announced on Lil Tay's Instagram account that she had passed away and it has left her family in shock and indescribable pain. Hours after the news of the teen rapper's death was posted online, Lil Tay's family reportedly released a statement to TMZ and said that she is safe and alive. 

Lil Tay, in a statement provided to TMZ by her family, said, "I want to make it clear that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I’m completely heartbroken, and struggling to even find the right words to say. It’s been a very traumatizing 24 hours."

She added, "All day yesterday, I was bombarded with endless heartbreaking and tearful phone calls from loved ones all while trying to sort out this mess. My Instagram account was compromised by a 3rd party and used to spread jarring misinformation and rumours regarding me, to the point that even my name was wrong. My legal name is Tay Tian, not 'Claire Hope'".
