Viral Video: What was supposed to be a ‘regular’ reel on a birthday, turned into a full-blown chaos on social media soon after the video was shared online. A woman, Mamta Rai- also a popular social media influencer- decided to celebrate her birthday in a temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi. The said video showed the woman cutting her birthday cake in front of the temple’s deity, whereas the temple priest was seen offering her a garland. The woman also offered the first slice of the cake to the preached deity. However, as soon as the video saw the ‘internet’s light of the day’, it left people triggered. Most dubbed the matter ‘disrespectful’ towards religious beliefs. Questions and accusations also flew towards the temple management for letting the woman do the celebration inside the temple.

As the matter grew louder, the temple authorities reportedly claimed that cutting cakes inside the temple was ‘common’, whereas the temple was unaware that the woman was an influencer. As per reports, the temple management has now banned the cutting of cakes inside the temple.

The video pulled many reactions after getting shared and going viral. Most people questioned the temple administration and chastised the decision to let the woman celebrate inside, while the rest criticised the birthday woman as well.

The video was shared on social media, by the handle ‘MrSinha_’. The post was captioned, “How can someone be allowed to cut cake inside a temple? Ordinary devotees aren't even allowed to stop there even for 30 seconds.... This is really shameful.... More than these Reelbaaz, temple managements are responsible for reducing our temples into a joke.” The post was shared four days ago and pulled 532K views from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “This is not acceptable at all. Who is this woman? Is it appropriate to cut a cake in a temple? How did the temple administration permit this? Is this facility available to the general public or only for a select few?” a user said. “Man has reached the lowest point of depravity due to his greed for money. Priests and temple management are also not untouched by this,” added another.

“Temple management boards are slowly getting occupied by political people, left-leaning, anti-Hindu elements which allow this kind of things demeaning temple sanctity,” added a third person. “Joke is on the temple administration for letting her do this nonsense, that too with a camera and a cake,” commented another.
