With India being the country with the largest population in the world, it makes sense that the level of competition in almost all the fields is on another level. Gone are the days when two to three students were the only ones topping their schools or colleges, as every other kid is a high scorer these days. Apart from showing how talented and sharp Indian kids are, such results also show how difficult it is to get into prestigious institutions in the country. With such cutthroat competition in mind, many graduates opt for jobs that can compensate in the form of money and salary, for all the hard work and efforts that they have put into their education during their schooling and college years. Expecting something similar, a student from a ‘Tier 1 College’ refused to accept an internship where the stipend offered was Rs 10,000.
Taking to his social media, the employer then shared the screenshot of the inter’s rejection response, which was quick to go viral. The major reason behind the virality was how divided the internet was on the matter. “I am sorry it won't work for me being from a Tier 1 college this is too low for me. Hope u understand,” the intern’s text read. Most found the employer in the wrong and sided with the intern for asking more, while the rest did not agree with the tone and sentencing used by the intern to put their view forward.
The post was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘vinayak2506’. The post was captioned, “I thought this mindset was going away, but sadly it's not.” The post was shared four days ago and pulled 293K views from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “If he had rephrased it as something like: I believe I possess strong skills in this domain and deserve more than what has been offered. Therefore, I cannot accept this offer. Wishing you all the best- It would have conveyed the same message effectively,” a user said. “It's not like you're facing any loss. It's like a business deal didn't work out. Don't have to shame the poor kid for not liking what you're paying,” added a second person.
“All said and done why would a graduate accept 10k/ month? Drivers charge 25k/ month in Delhi. Isn’t this just exploitation for ‘experience’?” added a third user. “If these people did not settle for a mediocre college, why would they want to pay for a bad internship offer of ONLY 10k a month?” added another. “The only thing I love here is he is clear what his worth is. Not a good way to say it tho like how he said,” added another.
