Last year’s ‘November 19’ heartbreak was surely one of the saddest moments for not only cricket enthusiasts but for the entire country. It wasn't just captain Rohit Sharma and ace players like Virat Kohli who cried over the brutal defeat of India at the 2023 Cricket World Cup finals, but it was also the entire country that slept with teary eyes that night. However, the South Africa vs India match at the Men's T20 World Cup 2024 on June 29, finally helped India in moving on from the ‘November’ horror, when the Sharma-led Indian Cricket team won the T20 trophy in Barbados.

After being stuck due to Hurricane Beryl for three days, the team finally arrived in Delhi today, July 04. A special chartered Air India flight, Air India Champions 24 World Cup, (AIC24WC), was sent to bring the winners. The team was then scheduled to grab breakfast with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

With the aim to glorify the men in blue, an open bus roadshow is also being held in Mumbai, which began at 5 PM, and will end at 7 PM. It will go through Marine Drive and will end at the Wankhede Stadium.

Apart from the win itself, the fact that India won a cup after 11 years further made the victory a special one. Before the 2024’s T20 win, India clinched a victory in 2013, when it brought the Champions Trophy home. Whereas it won its last T20 Cup in 2007. Coming to ODI victories, the country won in 1983 and then in 2011.

Understandably, the entire nation is too excited for the champions, which was also reflected on the internet, where the netizens shared their reactions. Taking over social media, people shared their excited responses.

“Indian Captain #RohitSharma cuts a cake at ITC Maurya in Delhi to celebrate the ICC T20 World Cup victory. #ChampionsAtDelhiAirport,” a user said.

“The dream got fulfilled. The smile is back on faces. The legends are happy. The world is healing. The golden days are back. Thank you, God,” added a second person.
