British Influencer Viral Video: British influencer and historian Nick Booker attended a unique wedding in Mangalore and shared his wonderful experience on Instagram. The wedding was full of culture, fun, and beautiful traditions, as it brought together a Punjabi groom and a South Indian bride.
Nick shared videos from the wedding of his cousin Rajiv and the bride Shravya. Talking about it, he wrote, "South India meets North India - Shravya and Rajiv's wedding in Mangalore." His Punjabi relatives flew in from California, and the bride’s family hosted a big celebration. One of the most fun parts was a dance battle between both sides of the family — "South vs North" dance-off, as Nick called it.
He also said, "My Punjabi relatives sure know how to move – didn’t stop for over 12 hours. Wonderful celebration combining some beautiful sacred and a lot of fun. Wishing Shravya and Rajiv all the best for their life ahead." In the video, Nick is seen dancing happily with his family members.
Nick was also amazed by the South Indian musical instruments used during the wedding. He wrote, "At the wedding, I saw two stunning drums. The Thavil — a barrel drum from Tamil Nadu, made from jackwood and hide — is played with one hand (with metal finger caps) and one stick. It’s often paired with the nadaswaram, but this time, a saxophone and flute took over!"
Talking about another drum, he said, "Then there’s the Chende from Kerala, a vertical cylindrical drum played with two sticks. Loud and dramatic, it’s key to temple festivals and Kathakali, and marks the muhurtham with thunderous energy. The chende drummers were absolutely ripped!"

He was also very touched by the rituals at the wedding. Nick wrote, "Have you ever attended a South Indian wedding? I was very moved by several of the rituals I was experiencing up close for the first time."
And of course, he couldn’t stop praising the food. "Is Mangalorean food the best in India? We ate so much fabulous Mangalorean food. Delicious vegetarian dishes at the wedding functions and some outrageous ghee roast seafood when exploring the city in between." Nick’s posts are going viral, and people are loving how he enjoyed every part of the cross-cultural wedding with great joy and respect.

However, the Akshata is the UNbroken rice - A or अ means not, kshat or क्षत means broken( from क्षत we get क्षति means loss). Wishing you more cultural social adventures in this land." "Don’t forget to see St. Mary’s Island's beautiful geological formations… I am guessing you might have visited all the famous temples, beaches, and tried the local cuisine too," a second user added.
