Delhi Viral Video: Recording videos in Delhi’s bustling Connaught Place has been a common sight for years, with influencers and content creators often spotted capturing interviews or street clips. But what seemed like a routine task for influencer Sonali Singh recently turned into a tense encounter with the police. While she was interviewing a woman for her Instagram page, a cop allegedly stopped her, claiming that shooting videos there was 'against a rule set' by authorities.
Refusing to back down, Singh confronted the officer and asked to see the proof of this so-called rule. The confrontation escalated when another woman stepped in to support Singh. Claiming to be a lawyer, she told the officer that no such rule existed and advised him to focus on more serious issues rather than stopping content creators.
Singh explained that the cop seemed more interested in asserting authority than enforcing the law. “He thought that he would pressurise me by taking names like SP and DCP. He just wanted me to listen to him- it was an ego fight. I don’t know what was illegal about it,” she said in her post. She called the incident discouraging, pointing out that police often interrupt peaceful activities but ignore bigger problems in the city.

The video, shared on Instagram by Singh’s handle, quickly went viral, sparking reactions from netizens. Many criticised the officer’s behaviour, calling the 'no video rule' fake, while others highlighted how authorities sometimes focus on minor issues instead of important matters.
"Really appreciate the lawyer who stepped in during this incident, proud of you, ma’am. You’ve made the entire community proud. And yes, there’s absolutely no rule that says you can’t record in Connaught Place," a user wrote. "They always avoid important things where they have to work. Always," a second user added.
"Two weeks ago, my friends and I had the same confrontation with the Delhi Police near India Gate while we were just filming ourselves. This is totally unfair!!!" shared a third user. "It’s so sad how the people who are supposed to protect us are always on a trip of fragile male ego and power," added another user. "If it's a rule, then make a video asking for your apology for your ignorance. And appreciate him for performing his duty. As far as I could see, he did not ask for a bribe," wrote another user.
