Bollywood blockbuster film Sholay is the prime example of the phrase 'old is gold'. Even after 48 years, Sholay is one of the favourite movies of not only the older but the new generation as well. So it was only a matter of time until an AI artist took this 'cinematic gold' as an inspiration and created a piece of work out of it.
Recently, an AI artist re-imagined the film's Hollywood version and now a clip on the same is going viral. The video was shared on Reddit by a user with the name 'ShadyKaran', where the artist captioned it as 'What If Sholay Was Made In Hollywood'.

The famous dialogues like 'Kitne aadmi the?' and 'Basanti in kutto ke samne mat nachna' are ingrained in our minds with the faces of the actors who delivered them. Amid this, imagining other actors playing these roles is a bit difficult, but the viral clip still impressed some netizens as the imaginary Hollywood cast was selected with utmost accuracy.
However, some of the selected faces did trigger a debate by the netizens. In the viral clip, Julia Roberts is seen playing the character of 'Basanti', and the character of 'Jai' is played by Robert De Niro. The role of the iconic 'Thakur' went to Kevin Spacey, and Jack Nicholson was seen playing the character of 'Gabbar'.
Reacting to the clip, netizens had all kinds of comments to add. Some users even suggested names for the characters shown in the clip. "Naah Brando as Thakur," a user commented. "Kevin Spacey plays psychopath best. Baldev Singh urf Thakur was a straight forward man. That is a miscast there, probably Gene Hackman would have suited," another user commented.

On the other hand, a few netizens spiralled back to the famous 'Sholey is based on Hollywood movie' debate. "It was. Sholay was loosely inspired from the Spaghetti westerns by Sergio Leone mainly from For a Few Dollars more and The Good, the bad and the ugly. The main villain character Indio from FAFDM is almost similar to Gabbar, there is a laugh scene as well," wrote a third user.
