Late Captain Anshuman Singh turned into a hero for the country, after he lost his life in July last year, in 2023, while saving other soldiers from reportedly a major fire in Siachen. Recognising the brave soldier, he was honoured with India's second-highest peacetime gallantry award, Kirti Chakra. He was posthumously conferred the award by President Droupadi Murmu on July 5, which was received by his wife Smriti Singh, and his mother Manju Singh.
However, soon after the award ceremony, the braveheart's parents alleged their son’s widow of taking the Kirti Chakra with her. They alleged that Singh left the house with their son’s clothes and other belongings, and went to her house in Gurdaspur, Punjab. Reports of her refusing to talk to them also came forward. As soon as the allegation began to float online, netizens took it upon themselves to somehow ‘solve’ the matter, as they began to troll Smriti Singh on social media.
Finding her Instagram account, many shot rude and hateful comments on Singh's post, only to later realise that the woman they were trolling was someone else. Reshma Sebastian, a fashion influencer in Kerala, was mistaken for Smriti Singh by many, resulting in her getting trolled. Clarifying the matter and urging people to stop, Sebastian took to her social media and shared post regarding the same.
“This is not Smriti Singh's (widow of Indian Army soldier Capt Anshuman Singh) page/IG account. Read the profile details and bio first. Please refrain from spreading false information and hate comments,” read Sebastian’s post that she shared on July 14.

Sebastian reportedly lives in Germany. Apart from reminding people of the ‘limit’ that they are ‘crossing’, she also shared some hate comments that she has been receiving.
