Viral Video: A questionable video came forward from Kashmir’s Ganderbal, where some wildlife officials were seen trying to catch a leopard. What made the clip alarming was that officials seemingly ‘lacked’ proper training and had no equipment, as pointed out by netizens after the clip went viral. The leopard, as per reports, attacked 5 people in total, two women and three officials, whereas the incident took place on April 03. The leopard in the clip was also seen attacking one of the officers, which led to others getting involved, who began to beat up the animal using sticks.
According to reports, the animal was later captured alive by authorities. As soon as the clip went viral, many came forward and expressed their anger over wildlife officials not being ‘trained’.
The video was shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘Ieshan_W’. The post was captioned, “Caught on camera: leopard attacks wildlife official while they attempt to capture him at Fatehpora area of central Kashmir’s Gandarbal. Two women and a wildlife official were injured in the attack.”

The video went viral and gained many irked reactions from people. Most criticised the lack of training that wildlife officials displayed while trying to catch the leopard, while the rest stressed the need to have ‘experts’ working on such missions, rather than people with ‘minimum knowledge’ about the issue. The post was shared yesterday and pulled 455K views from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their vews. “Wildlife officers handle situations like common villagers. ‘WILDLIFE’ preservers!” a user said. “It's really shocking that wildlife officials were there without proper equipment and gear. They should not be behaving like common villagers. The leopard could have been tranquilised easily,” added a second person.
“I’m very conflicted about this,” wrote a third. “Yeah, why didn't the leopard raise a white flag and signal to everyone he only wanted peace? It's the leopard's fault,” joked a fourth person. “This casual approach of catching a leopard could have proven more fatal and catastrophic, the forest department must provide their officials proper gear and training to tackle such incidents,” said another.
“Animal cruelty...it really shows forest staffs/management are not well trained to handle wildlife..and it's happening in every state,” added another.
