45-Foot Naked Woman Statue Viral Video: A massive statue of a naked woman, standing 45 feet tall in San Francisco’s Embarcadero Plaza, has become the talk of the town. While officials hope it will draw more people to the area and help boost the city’s economy, many locals are far from thrilled. The statue, titled R-Evolution, is the work of artist Marco Cochrane. Made of steel and lit up with colourful lights, it weighs nearly 15,000 kg. It was first shown at the Burning Man festival in 2015 and is now the final piece in Cochrane’s Bliss Project series.
The artwork has been placed in San Francisco with support from the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, The Sijbrandij Foundation, and Building 180. According to the department, the statue isn’t just about size, it’s about making a statement. In a press release, they explained, “Despite making up more than half the population, women are vastly underrepresented in public art, comprising only 8% of statues in the US. This sculpture challenges that imbalance, creating a powerful moment of visibility and reflection.”
Artist Marco Cochrane shared his own thoughts, saying, “This sculpture is about being seen. Women’s presence in public art is rare. When they are depicted, it is often through outdated or passive narratives.” He added, “R-Evolution challenges that. She stands strong, aware, and grounded—calling for a world where all people can walk freely and without fear.”

SF continues to be plagued by crime, homeless, and illegals. The city would have many more tourists if these issues were addressed. pic.twitter.com/zc0EUunniF
While the message may be powerful, reactions from San Francisco residents are mixed. Some were caught off guard by the statue’s sudden appearance. Others took to social media to call it “obscene” and ask, “Who approved this?”

The video shared on X received many comments from social media users. One user wrote, "SF spends around $1 billion annually to 'fight homelessness', yet every year the problem gets worse, not better. And some genius in city gov thought THIS would bring back the tourists?" "Somebody put up a 45' naked lady statue in San Francisco, nobody asked for it. Now you have to walk between her legs to get from the Ferry building to the Embarcadero," a second user added.
"That's insane. Until the homeless, druggies ect are taken care of, nobody really wants to go to SF," a third user wrote. "To be honest, I think it's going to be very difficult for San Francisco to even attract half of the tourists it had during its heyday," added another user.
