Mathura Viral Video: What should have been a regular day at a roadside hotel in Mathura turned into a viral controversy, and for all the wrong reasons. A disturbing video shot at the BK Brijwasi Hotel, located on the Barsana-Govardhan Road, shows a young boy washing used food plates inside a filthy bathroom. The sight of a child scrubbing utensils near a toilet has not only horrified viewers but also sparked outrage over food safety and child labour.
According to reports, the boy is said to be the hotel owner’s nephew. In the now-viral video, he’s seen crouched on the bathroom floor, using what appears to be dirty water to clean the dishes. The clip, which surfaced on May 31, quickly caught the attention of both locals and social media users, leading to massive backlash.
After the video gained traction, police acted swiftly and arrested the hotel owner, Bhura Khan, along with the minor. A formal complaint has been registered for endangering public health, and authorities are investigating whether child labour laws were broken. This isn’t the first time food hygiene in public places has come under question. A similar video had earlier shown a tea vendor cleaning his utensils with a train toilet’s water jet, further fuelling public anger.

The video received backlash online from social media users. One user wrote, "I wonder why India does not do hygiene inspections like other countries do. Every eating establishment should be visited by undercover officers every week." "We should have food inspection across the country 🇮🇳 from star hotels to small side restaurants. Swach Bharat Sach situation report," a second user added.
"Hygiene is definitely illegal in our nation, such a failed state we're becoming," added a third user. "Who thinks he's the only one ?? More than 50% are the same around the northern states," a fourth user wrote. "You pick a restaurant of your choice, and you would be surprised if you don't find similar (un) hygienic practices there," added a fifth user. "This happens almost everywhere in India.....I've experienced it myself. It's disgusting," added a sixth user.
"If you think this is disgusting, then you must think twice before eating totally adulterated, like poison food on the street, and they don’t even wash their utensils and hands. Food inspectors only take action who don’t offer them anything," added another user. "And the people are celebrating that we crossed Japan in GDP," another user added.
