Viral Video: The popular food gain, McDonald’s, ended up in huge trouble after a McDonald’s employee in one of the outlets in Australia, did something so bizarre that the act alone left many questioning the brand’s take on hygiene. Taking to social media, a woman, Debbie Barakat, shared a troubling video on the internet, which shocked many. The video in question showed a McDonald’s employee allegedly drying off a wet mop under the store's French Fries warmer. The incident took place at the Booval McDonald’s in Brisbane on April 04, as per Yahoo! News Australia.
The woman, according to reports, was at the outlet along with her son, but the horror that she witnessed at the store understandably froze the mother. “I was waiting for my order when I heard another staff member say- I don’t think you should be doing that; it could be a safety issue as it might catch on fire,” the woman was quoted as saying to Yahoo! News Australia. However, the employee reportedly ‘laughed it off’.
Rushing into action after watching the severe hygiene violation, the woman mailed about the incident to the store manager, only to receive a nonchalant response, leaving her in further shock. “Be assured that we’re taking corrective action so a similar action will not reoccur,” read the manager’s response as per the woman.
Barakat reportedly shared the video of the incident after 6 weeks of it taking place. Whereas, as per reports, a spokesperson of McDonald’s Australia dubbed it an ‘isolated incident’.
The video was shared on social media platform Instagram, by the handle ‘Limitlesss1’. The post read, “$MCD A McDonald’s worker was seen drying a mop under the French fries warmer in the restaurant @McDonalds. Do you eat at McDonald’s?”

Taking to the internet, people shared their take. “Gross. How come she is not even worried that people are around and what she is doing is a downright crime as far as hygiene is concerned,” a user said. “Insanely gross, I stopped eating there years ago. This is simply another example of why people need to understand the reality of these food outlets,” added a second person.
“I don’t see that as a major deal compared to other stuff I've seen in their stores. But hey, Why would you show the person's profile? Do you realise the damage this footage could cause this young lady,” commented a third person. “Adds to the special sauce flavour!!” joked another.
