Mexican Mayor Viral Video: A mayor from a town in Mexico recently got married to a female crocodile in a special ceremony and yes, it’s all part of an old tradition. This unique wedding took place in San Pedro Huamelula, where the mayor, Daniel Gutierrez, followed a 230-year-old cultural ritual. In this tradition, the mayor marries a crocodile to bring good luck, rain, fish in the sea, and a good harvest for the people. The crocodile, who is treated like a princess, was dressed in a white wedding gown. Before the wedding, she was taken around the town where people hugged her and danced with joy. During the ceremony, the mayor was seen hugging and kissing the reptile, just like in a real wedding.

The video of this special event went viral after it was shared by Nexta_TV on X (formerly Twitter). They wrote, "The Mayor of a Mexican town married a caiman—for prosperity and fish." After the ceremony, the current mayor shared, "We are happy because we celebrate the union of two cultures. People are content."

Sounds like the perfect time to rethink some traditions. But hey, if it brings fish and prosperity, who am I to judge?" "A man marries a caiman… and somehow it makes more sense than half the political alliances in 2024. At least the reptile didn’t lie," a second user added. "One of ten thousand rituals of Mexicans," added another user.

This ritual is not new. Two years ago, former mayor Victor Hugo Sosa also took part in the same tradition. He had said, "I accept responsibility because we love each other. That is what is important. You can't have a marriage without love... I yield to marriage with the princess girl."
