Mashaal Raas Garba Viral Video: Navratri 2025 has turned into a grand celebration across the world, with people dancing their hearts out at garba and dandiya nights. While the festival always brings out vibrant traditions, one performance from Gujarat has grabbed everyone’s attention online and it’s unlike anything most people have ever seen. An Instagram video shared by Reha Adani is going viral, showing a breathtaking act called Mashaal Raas. In the clip, two women can be seen recording their stunned reactions as men perform garba with fire torches in their hands.
The dancers move energetically, jumping and twirling with the burning mashaals, creating a fiery spectacle that leaves the audience speechless. From colourful dandiya nights to fiery Mashaal Raas, Navratri 2025 has truly shown how this festival keeps traditions alive while surprising us with new and unforgettable experiences.

The video carried a powerful caption: “Mashaal Raas is the most unique, intense, and fiery form of Garba performed by the men in the city of Jamnagar, Gujarat. They’re among the few keeping this form of Garba alive! The performers practice this dance for MONTHS with burning torches (mashaals) during the Navratri festival—symbolizing strength, courage, and the victory of light over darkness. It’s been performed since 1957 but remains an underrated gem that not many people know about.”
It further added: “We were blown away when we saw the performance! Even while shooting, our hands flew to our mouths in utter shock and fascination! We literally couldn’t contain the joy we felt afterward—simply because we witnessed something as magical as this! And the cherry on top? The people of Jamnagar—from auto drivers to event organisers—were incredibly sweet and helpful, going out of their way to assist us. Our hearts were so full.”
The video shared on Instagram three days ago received 946k views from users online. "This really happens during Navratri in the villages of Gujarat," a user wrote. "Mashal Ras has been happening at Jamnagar for more than 7 decades, thanks to the internet world noticing this great art," a second user wrote. "I've seen it for 25 years every Navartri from my house balcony as I live there only," wrote a third user.
"Never see anything like this! Happy that you got to experience this," added a fourth user. "Just as there are different types of ras, Gof Ras, Huda Ras, Dandiya Ras, Comment Ras, similarly, this is also a type of ras that is played during Navratri. In the internal parts of Gujarat, it is called 'Mashal Ras', in which there is worship of mother Amba," added another user.
