Nigerian Man Viral Video: India is often spoken about with stereotypes but one Nigerian creator living in New Delhi is changing that narrative with his viral video. Titled '17 myths about being Black in India,' Pascal Olaleye’s clip is winning hearts as he busts common misconceptions while sharing his real-life experiences, including a glimpse into his love life. Pascal began by addressing one of the biggest assumptions: that “India is too dirty to live in.” He quickly brushed this off, saying the country is “busy and chaotic, but communities keep their spaces clean” and that he has stayed in places “far cleaner than you would believe.”

He went on to explain how easy communication is, adding that English is widely spoken, from shopkeepers to students, especially in South India. He also noted how public places and signboards carry both Hindi and English, making things even simpler for outsiders. Speaking about roads and transport, Pascal admitted Indian streets are packed but pointed out that rickshaws, metros and even Uber rides are “cheap, fun, and surprisingly reliable.”

Safety was another big concern he tackled. Against the myth that “India isn’t safe for foreigners,” he shared, “I’ve felt more looked after here than in some ‘safer’ countries. People genuinely step in to help when you need it.” The stereotype about food being “too spicy” also made the list. Pascal explained that India has options for everyone, from mild dishes like butter chicken to fiery snacks like golgappas. “You can always ask for non-spicy dishes,” he added.

He further highlighted India’s warmth, saying strangers welcomed him with endless cups of chai, wedding invites and love that reminded him of family. In his own words, “India is a lot more hospitable than Europe.”

Pascal also laughed at the belief that street food is unsafe, sharing how he enjoyed pani puri, samosas, pav bhaji, and masala chai without falling sick. Finally, he addressed myths about love and acceptance, revealing that he is in “a loyal, healthy relationship” with an Indian partner. He added warmly, “Indian moms and aunties will feed you like their own son or daughter.”

When I visited India a month ago, just as soon as people saw me, they started chatting and could understand my English well. They’re being friendly, just that I lost my social battery after visiting 2 countries before India," a second user wrote.
