Mumbai Man Viral Post: Mumbai woke up to another day of dull skies and dusty air, and the growing discomfort of the city’s residents has now turned into loud concern. Among them is Arindam Paul, Chief Business Officer at Atomberg, who says the pollution has become so bad that almost everyone around him is falling sick. For a coastal city known for its breezy climate, these numbers shocked many, including Paul, who said he never expected Mumbai’s air to get this bad.
He reminded people that just a few years ago, the winter months from November to January used to be the most pleasant time in Mumbai. Now, he says, "It is the worst now." His reaction came after watching a viral video showing Mumbai’s skyline fading behind a cloud of smog.
Sharing his frustration, Paul talked about how badly the pollution is affecting daily life. He revealed that his office is filled with people struggling with fever, allergies and throat infections, all blamed on toxic air. Describing the situation, he wrote on X, "Almost everyone in the office down with sore throat/fever/allergy… I understand that this is the price we pay for development and infra, but surely we could find a solution if we wanted to,” stressing once again that "no coastal city should have a 250-300 AQI".

The post shared yesterday garnered 119K views from people. Social media users were quick to react to the viral video. One user wrote, "Mumbai was never this bad. All construction activities must be halted till AQI improves. I hope the authorities wake up." "It's absolutely horrible. Almost everyone in my family is down with a sore throat and cough. Roads are dug up everywhere, every other building is going for redevelopment, too much dust all around," a second user wrote.
"You guys got so many ailments in 250 + AQI, ask Delhi people how they are surviving in 1000+ AQI in the last ten years," wrote a third user. "If calling this 'the cost of growth' is our standard, we're just letting bad policy slide. Progress doesn't have to mean reaching for an inhaler," added a fourth user. "It's Covid, if we get testing. 90% people in my office, who got tested, tested positive," added another user.
