About the International Space Station
Originally planned as NASA's Freedom space station in the 1980s, the International Space Station expanded internationally as it became evident that no one nation could handle such a significant undertaking. Launched on November 20, 1998, the ISS was intended to serve as a center for low-Earth orbit study, exploration, and innovation.
Space agencies from the United States (NASA), Russia (Roscosmos), Europe (ESA), Japan (JAXA), and Canada (CSA) collaborated on the ISS. Physics, biology, and medical research can be conducted in the ISS's special microgravity environment. Because of the ISS's life support systems, which recycle waste, water, and air, astronauts may stay on board for lengthy periods of time. The International Space Station's adaptable design allows it to customise as needed to meet evolving needs. It is extremely useful because of its versatility. It serves as a space observatory, a science facility, and even a training ground for upcoming missions to Mars and the Moon.
It's noteworthy to note that the International Space Station (ISS) is getting more expensive every year due to the millions of dollars spent on maintenance and repairs for this technological marvel that floats around in space.
