After the major controversy that surrounded the otherwise much-preached NEET exams, it seems like the UPSC and its appointments are under the scanner. The controversy was triggered after a 2022-batch IAS officer from reportedly the Maharashtra cadre, Pooja Khedkar, came into notice for allegedly misusing of power. The probationary IAS officer was accused of using the ‘red-blue beacon light and VIP number plate’ for her private vehicle- an Audi. As per reports, the IAS trainee who scored 841 as her All India Rank (AIR) in the UPSC exam, was posted at the Pune district collector's office. Reportedly, she has now been transferred to Washim.

As per a report submitted to the General Administration Department by Pune collector Suhas Diwse, Khedkar also demanded government facilities that were not part of her post, being a trainee. The demands in question were a provision of a car, residential quarters, a separate cabin, and a peon. The demands were reportedly denied. She was also accused of using an ante chamber that was assigned to a senior official.

The accusations only mounted further after an old video of the IAS trainee’s mock interview went viral, where she mentioned her father’s income as 0. However, as per reports, a Pune RTI activist raised questions on the ‘0 income’ claim and pointed out the Lok Sabha polls affidavit of her father, Dilip Khedkar, where an annual income of Rs 49 lakh was shown. She was also accused of submitting fake Other Backward Class (OBC) and fake disability certificates.
