Rizz named Word Of The Year 2023: Last year, it was one of the ‘grumpiest’ words which took the title of the ‘Word Of The Year 2022’- Goblin Mode. But this time, it's almost the exact opposite. Love, with a touch of poetry, is in the air after the term ‘Rizz’ is crowned as the ‘Word Of The Year 2023’ by the Oxford University Press/Oxford English Dictionary. While the word ‘goblin mode’ meant being ‘unapologetically self-indulgent’, this year’s ‘rizz’ talks about love and the way it is expressed!
What is Rizz?
Rizz is a slang word that means expressing one’s love for a potential ‘romantic or sexual’ partner in a smooth manner. People often also associate the word with deep-meaning poems that were used to express one’s love and admiration for their partner. The slag took over the internet recently and since then, all everyone could talk about on the internet was ‘people with the most rizz-packed proposals’ and praise for their partners.
Rizz- World of the Year 2023:
The term was given the prestigious title after it worked its way to the top through public voting. The voting was conducted by the Oxford University Press, where ‘Rizz’ became the ultimate ‘champion’ after ‘defeating’ terms like ‘beige flag’, ‘Swiftie’, and more. The term is more common among the Generation Z.

Most also recalled the other ‘contenders’ and compared them with the ‘winner’, while others found it an apt decision.
