Electric Flying Car Viral Video: A California-based automaker has unveiled jaw-dropping footage of its electric vehicle soaring over another car on a city road. The company is calling it a groundbreaking moment, claiming it to be the first-ever test of a car executing both a drive and a vertical takeoff in an urban setting.

A viral video, resembling a scene from a sci-fi film, shows the test model of the Alef Model Zero electric car smoothly lifting off the ground, rising into the air, and effortlessly hovering over parked cars on a city street. According to the caption, the car can currently only drive 25 miles per hour. It operates with four rotors in the front and four rotors in the rear. The company has already received over 3,000 preorders and expects to sell the vehicles for $300,000 each.

Alef Aeronautics CEO Jim Dukhovny called the test a major milestone, demonstrating the technology in a real-world urban setting. He compared it to the historic Wright Brothers' Kitty Hawk flight, hoping it would prove to the world that a new era of transportation was possible. "This drive and flight test represents an important proof of technology in a real-world city environment. We hope it will be a moment similar to the Wright Brothers' Kitty Hawk video, proving to humanity that new transportation is possible."

The viral video was posted on X (formerly Twitter) by Collin Rugg on his official account, @CollinRugg. Shared three days ago, the post has already racked up 4.2 million views. While some viewers were fascinated, many remained skeptical about the footage.

One user joked, "Haha, yeah, I can totally see someone rushing to make it to their 9 AM meeting, launching off cars like it’s an action movie. Next thing you know, traffic is 'solved,' but we’re all living in a real-life Fast & Furious—just without the cool cars or soundtrack!" Another skeptical viewer wrote, "That's not a car. That's a cardboard box shaped like a car, covering a giant drone." A third user wasn’t impressed either, saying, "LOL... this version is a stupid idea. The future is bright... I just hope it's brighter than this."

A fourth user questioned the vehicle’s practicality, asking, "Car? Is that thing capable of doing anything more than the trick it's doing?" Another user raised a concern about its usefulness, commenting, "How does 'jumping' over traffic solve the issue? It might work for the person making the jump, but what about the hundreds of other cars stuck in the jam? And if everyone could jump, imagine 100 cars leaping into the air at once to escape traffic."
