Scam At Indian Railways: The Indian Railways is back on the wrong side of the limelight after a woman took to her social media handle to narrate about her ordeal that she faced aboard the Patna to Delhi train. The woman in question, as per her post, was travelling with her family and ordered a veg Thali, which was priced at Rs 150. However, the experience turned bitter when the family realised that the staff tried to scam them by charging extra. A scene took place where the family demanded the bill, after which the staff asked them to pay a certain amount as a settlement. The incident instantly went viral and left netizens angry, who were quick to react to it.
The post was shared on the social media site X (formerly Twitter) by the handle ‘ruchikokcha’. The woman described the entire ordeal in her X post.
Check out the viral post:
The post described, “Dear @IRCTCofficial I was travelling from Patna to Delhi In Brahmaputra exp train no 15658 coach M2 (8dec) with my family. We had a total of 10 seats. We ordered dinner. The IRCTC dinner person told us the price of veg thali to be ₹150. We clearly told him we will need the bill. When he brought the bill he bifurcated the amount into two components veg thali- ₹80 + paneer sabji ₹70 =₹150. We asked him to make the bill only for veg thali as we ordered just that. He kept arguing with us for an hour that this is how the bill is prepared. After an hour his official came and said he can’t give the promised bill. They gave us bill for veg thali ₹80 and said “aap itna hi pay kar do”.

Taking notice of the matter, the Indian Railways also responded to the matter and informed about the strict action that the authorities took against the responsible. “Ma'am, thanks for highlighting the matter it is viewed seriously. A hefty penalty has been imposed on the service provider. Also, the concerned licensee staff involved in overcharging has been deboarded,” the reply read.
Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. Bill should be part of delivery and not ask for it separately. @IRCTCofficial please implement it,” a user said. “Good you asked for bill. It's regular for them to cheat passengers. Even TT has a complaint book to lodge complaint. You were aware u asked but many don't bother for bill,” said a second.
“The irony is these things happen almost daily in most of the trains and some action happens after complain. But @AshwiniVaishnaw why it keeps happening on a daily basis? Are these actions just an eyewash? Why no severe action? Why no fear/respect to obey the rules and law?” asked another.
