Sex Videos Allowed On X: Partial pornography, explicit videos or NSFW content was seemingly never a major issue on Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter). But that never meant that it was ever allowed openly on the said social media platform. Until X's recent policy update, as per which, the platform will now allow pornographic content with certain restrictions, reported Tech Crunch. Apparently, the site came up with its own set of rules and restrictions that will have to be followed before sharing such content.
Before jumping to restrictions, let’s take a look at the policy itself. The policy, as per ‘help.x.com’ read, “We believe that users should be able to create, distribute, and consume material related to sexual themes as long as it is consensually produced and distributed. Sexual expression, whether visual or written, can be a legitimate form of artistic expression. We believe in the autonomy of adults to engage with and create content that reflects their own beliefs, desires, and experiences, including those related to sexuality.”
Basically, as per the updated policy, as long as the adult content is being shared or produced ‘consensually’, it should not be an issue.
Coming to rules and restrictions, users sharing such content will have to add a warning. Meanwhile, X users with no date of birth or below the age of 18, will not be able to see the content. Apart from this, the platform also refused to tolerate ‘content promoting exploitation, nonconsent, objectification, sexualization or harm to minors, and obscene behaviors’.
“We blance this freedom by restricting exposure to Adult Content for children or adult users who choose not to see it. We also prohibit content promoting exploitation, nonconsent, objectification, sexualization or harm to minors, and obscene behaviors. We also do not allow sharing Adult Content in highly visible places such as profile photos or banners,” the policy further read.
As soon as the reports on the updated policy began to float online, netizens jumped in to share their 2 cents on the matter. The internet was soon flooded with people sharing their opinions.
“Twitter’s new policy, called “Freedom of Speech, not Freedom of Reach” in a nutshell (see @Safety) (And, yes, I know it’s “X” now, but honestly it’s just the same old Twitter, censorship and all). When he locks my account, know I appreciate every one of you who have stood by me,” a user read.

“There is adult content in my comments every day, against my will. So how is this X policy of allowing adult content new? I don’t want to see it, we need a feature that allows us to turn it off completely. I don’t like porn, I refuse to give my ID to some Israeli company, and the combination of these two things is a complete turnoff. I’m disgusted with these decisions @elonmusk and am letting my premium subscription expire on July 1st if this doesn’t change,” wrote a second person.

“Hey @elonmusk many (most?) of us who support you (like me) have a zero-tolerance policy for p*rn*graphy on our social media. Please don’t let it show up in our timeline and DMs. Please reconsider this alleged new X policy,” added a third.
