Guantanamo Bay
Guantanamo Bay, a US military prison in Cuba, is considered one of the most dangerous prisons in the world. It was opened in 2002 and has made a reputation for its sexual abuse and detentions without trial.
Alcatraz
Next on the list is the US's Alcatraz, which was built on Alcatraz Island. The prison was closed back in 1963, but can still send shivers down the spine of many with its brutal stories against the prisoners.
San Quentin State Prison
From Charles Manson to Richard Chase, this prison held one of the most infamous criminals. San Quentin State Prison is the third on the list due to it holding a high number of death rows. It was opened in 1852.
Muhanga Prison
For this one, you can imagine the prison’s condition, as the structure was built to hold 400 prisoners but instead ended up with 7000 inmates. From cannibalism to severe health complications, the Muhanga Prison reportedly received all kinds of issues.

Sabaneta Prison

Diyarbakir Prison
Diyarbakir Prison in Turkiye is on the eighth spot in the list and is one of the most brutal prisons. The jail is known for its brutality against inmates, where many have also taken their own lives.
Bang Kwang Central Prison
The next on the list reportedly saw issues like ‘maggot-infested food', human rights violations, and more. The Bang Kwang Central Prison is on the ninth spot on the list.
