November 15, 2024- seemingly turned into one of the most awaited days of the decade, over hosting the ‘Bout of the Century’; Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul. For a boxing legend who was about to re-enter the ring after 19 long years- the hype and excitement among the crowd and fans all over the world was quite understandable. Reportedly, over 108 million viewers joined in to watch the iconic match that was live-streamed only on Netflix. However, the ‘most-viewed sports event’ seemingly also became a match that disappointed the most, after 58-year-old Tyson lost to 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul. For those not aware, the match was held at the AT&T Stadium in Texas’ Arlington. The bout had 8 rounds, where Jake was declared the winner after an ‘unanimous decision’.
Needless to say, the end result broke many hearts, but one particular ‘heart’ seemingly refused to settle with the match’s final decision. As per reports, the head of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority- Turki Alalshikh- has now offered USD 700 million (approximately Rs 59,271,451,400) to ‘Iron Mike Tyson’. The only condition to take the money home is a fierce win against Paul in a ‘3-minute’ rematch.
“Jake Paul is a joke. I am giving Mike Tyson $700 million if he agrees to fight Jake Paul this time in a real fight and wins by KO in a maximum of 3 minutes,” Alalshikh was quoted as saying in reports. In the last match, Mike Tyson reportedly received USD 20 million. In front of the ‘20’, ‘700’ sure seems to be a much better figure! As per reports, Alalshikh possesses from USD 1.2 to 2.8 billion (£2.14 billion) as his wealth.
