One has to be ‘special’ enough to single-handedly cause a meme fest on social media based on just one X (formerly Twitter) post, which basically is a festive greeting. Yes, India’s one of the most ‘special’, or ‘wanted’ to be more precise, fugitive businessmen resurfaced on social media, and the internet went into a frenzy. Fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya, ever since he left India, gained popularity not only for scamming the biggest Indian banks but also for his rare X posts, because unlike others, Mallya takes to his X handle only or mostly on festivals that coincide with bank holidays. Ironic enough? Whatever your take might be, for netizens, it's a clear opportunity to address the matter with some of the most hilarious memes. And that’s exactly what happened today, October 24, when the country is celebrating the much-hailed festival of Dussehra. With that said, as soon as Mallya’s Dussehra greetings made it to his social media, the post instantly went viral and started receiving all kinds of reactions in the form of memes.

Mallya, or India’s ‘King of Good Times’ before 2012, was one of the biggest names and a brand in itself who was involved in several grand investments. However, everything began to go downhill in 2012, when his airline was suspended by the Government. He left the country in 2016 and soon became a fugitive as he was not able to pay his loans back.

The X post was shared on the social media site X (formerly Twitter) on the fugitive’s official handle. “Happy Dusshera to all,” it read.

Taking to the comment section, people had all kinds of reactions, where mostly netizens addressed the X post with hilarious memes. Many joked about the banks not being able to do anything due to the bank holiday, while others dubbed it a funny tease by Mallya to all the banks. “Jab bhi bank ki chhutti hoti hai, tab hi iska tweet aata hai (He only tweets on bank holidays),” a user said. “Sir kbhi bank working days pe bhi tweet kar liya kro (Please tweet on the days when the bank is not closed),” joked another. “Mallya come to India,” said another. “Vijay Mallya be like- Aaj payment karne ka irada tha par bank holiday hai (I wanted to pay today but it’s a bank holiday),” commented a fourth user. Some also shared memes on the X post.
