Viral Video: The usage of drugs is one of the most grave battles that the authorities are trying to fight as far as ‘drug-addict youth’ is concerned. And it seems like the attempts are hardly working, as a video posing countless questions on the same surfaced online from Delhi, and went viral. The video was of an e-rickshaw driver, who was seen injecting drugs on the roadside in broad daylight. The date and location were not confirmed, but the vehicle's number plate began with ‘DL’, which hinted towards it being a Delhi-registered rickshaw.

Ironically, the same rickshaw also displayed a ‘Nasha Mukti Kendra’ advertisement at its back. The video, soon after getting shared, left people irked and concerned at the same time.

The video was shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘EktaUnion’. The post was captioned, “Most of the drug addicts are driving e-rickshaws on the roads of Delhi!
The High Court has also ordered action against more than 80 thousand illegal e-rickshaws! But after watching this video of an e-rickshaw driver intoxicated in the middle of the road, do you think @dtptraffic and @TransportDelhi are serious about this danger?”

Most people chastised the ‘drug usage’ and pointed out the possible accident that the said driver might have caused due to being out of control. The rest questioned the authorities and their steps in curbing drug usage across the country. The video went viral. It was shared two days ago and received 561K views from people.

Taking to the comment box, people shared their views. “And the interesting thing is that a poster of “de-addiction” is pasted on his rickshaw,” a user said. “E-rickshaws were to be a boon for last-mile connectivity but they’ve become a menace. They drive in any lane and stop at any place on the road. Any metro station you go to you’d see them parked haphazardly causing traffic jams. @noidatraffic keeps challaning them but they don’t listen,” said a second person.

“This is where mobile snatching is done, chain breaking is here, knife throwing is done here, snatching is done in groups,” said a third person. “Entry fee is paid at every intersection - talk to any rickshaw puller in confidence, he will tell you the name and how much is paid,” added a fourth person.

“To some extent, the public is also responsible for this, stop sitting in their rickshaws and use other means of transport so that they will automatically sell the rickshaws and run away,” commented a next.
