Viral Video: Social media has witnessed countless cases of people taking the law into their own hands in the last few years, and the one that has become the most common case for such scenarios is women taking charge of teaching a ‘lesson’ to their harassers. Needless to say, such instances are only gaining ‘popularity’ as more people are coming forward in support of such ‘punishment’ on social media. Showing support for yet another similar incident, netizens lauded a girl’s bravery for beating up a man over harassing and misbehaving with her in Karnataka's Chitradurga. A video of the same was shared online, which went viral. In the video, people around the duo also showed support for the girl.

As per the viral post, the incident took place in Chitradurga’s Nehru Nagar area on September 13. Reportedly, a case has also been registered against two men for an ‘attempt to kidnap’ under the ‘POCSO Act’.

The Karnataka video has been doing rounds on the internet ever since it was shared. Most people sided with the girl and agreed to such public beating for harassers, while the rest criticised the authorities for ‘failing to protect women’.

The post was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘HateDetectors’. The post was captioned, “In #Karnataka's #Chitradurga, a man was beaten with footwear and kicked by a girl after he allegedly misbehaved with her, at Nehru Nagar on Friday. A video of the thrashing has now gone viral on social media.” The video was shared two days ago and pulled 41K views from people.

“The girl hit the man on the face with her footwear several times and even kicked him even as those around goaded her. A case has been registered against the accused #Patalingappa and #Anand of #Tagarinahatti for attempt to kidnap and under the POCSO Act at the women’s police station,” it further read.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “Brave girl! In such cases, retaliation in self-defense should be immediate. Very few girls retaliate in self-defense,” a user said. “Such punishment should be encouraged more. This is clearly something that people desperately need,” added a second person.

“These guys deserve these. All women should take action immediately to these evils before they commit anything bad,” added a third person. “More and more such scenes are coming from across India. Is it the ineffectiveness of our justice system that people don’t believe in law enforcement anymore and take the law into their own hands!!” added another.
