Viral Video: Ever since the much-preached River Yamuna made its ‘regular’ comeback in the headlines over its toxicity that became more evident after the thick toxic foam took over the water, people have been reacting to it in their own ways. From many raising questions over the ‘lack of actions’ by the government in the matter to several Chhath devotees taking a holy dip in the same toxicity-filled river, countless incidents have come forward on social media. However, the one that left people speechless was when a video showed a woman washing her hair with the river’s toxic foam like a regular shampoo was shared online. The woman was seen rubbing the foam in her hair as if she was shampooing them, while the other women watched her do the same.
The exact date and location of the incident could not be confirmed. The video drew a major reaction where most people found the woman’s actions questionable. Most criticised the authorities and the public for bluntly ignoring the river’s toxicity, while the rest pitied the ‘clueless’ women for bathing in the toxic water.
The Yamuna River video was shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘mrjethwani_’ The post was captioned, “That is not a shampoo.” The video was shared a few days ago and pulled more than a million views.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “They have no idea how toxic this industrial waste foam is,” a user said. “This is the condition of the rivers of our country which we all call mother, these rivers have become so polluted and no one is paying attention to it,” commented a second person.
“Is this really happening?” added a third person. “This is Delhi, it doesn't matter here, life in Delhi is not what the villagers think it is,” added a fourth person. “After a few days they will see a skin doctor,” added a fifth user. “Shampoo and water mix hair wash combo,” added a sixth person.
