Viral Video: Triggering the ‘crime vs justice’ debate right after a Bill was passed against mob lynching a few days ago in the Parliament, a video of several villagers thrashing a thief with a stick went viral. In the video, a group of men was seen beating up the man, who was reportedly responsible for robberies. However, as soon as the clip floated online, people began to react to it in a mixed manner. Some supported the villager’s ‘justice system’ amid the ‘failing law and order’ situation, while others dubbed the entire thing a ‘crime’.
The video was shared by the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘Arhant Shelby’. The post was reshared by the handle ‘Ghar ke kalesh’. The post was captioned, “Kalesh over thief got caught by villagers, they treat him well.”

The video went viral and left people with a mixed reaction. Most recalled the recently passed Bill against mob lynching and called the incident a ‘un, while others chastised such incidents. Many also commented on the failing law and order situation in the country. The post was shared today and pulled 22K views from people.
Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “I hope these people know that now onwards mob lynching is a crime and you could face up to life sentence under new criminal laws recently passed in the parliament,” a user said. “Well it's been happening for ages because the judiciary and law enforcement have failed people .... And liberal secular progressive fascists would selectively turn this into religious issue to make money and so would Indian and foreign presstitutes,” added next.
“They'll be hung in new lynching law for protecting themselves & their properties,” said another. “This is scary and sad at the same time,” said another.
