We reached the Moon half a century ago, we have already developed AIs advanced enough that they reportedly gained consciousness, and our next aim is to reach Mars! However, despite such staggering feats achieved under a span of just a few decades, we still DO have nations and communities where basic freedom like wearing a simple red lipstick is an offence. In case you still haven’t guessed the country we are hinting towards, it's North Korea, again. Reportedly, Kim Jong Un-led North Korea recently imposed a new rule, as per which, red lipsticks have been banned from the country.
North Korea’s ‘supreme’ leader Kim Jong Un is already infamous for imposing such mind-numbing and ‘nonsensical’ rules in the country for decades. The reason behind the recent ban, not so surprisingly, was another superficial move against anything that, according to the state, represented ‘capitalism’.

This is obviously not the first time that the North Korean leader imposed such a law. Reportedly, bans on blue or skinny jeans or heavy makeup in general, have also drawn the global spotlight in the past. Every new North Korean law that has ever managed to make it into the international headlines, has only left the rest of the world somewhat shocked and irked. The ‘red lipstick’ rule was no different, as people found it hard to believe and called it the ‘death’ of ‘basic human rights’.
The reasons behind such bans, as per reports, have always been the ‘attempt’ to not let the country bend towards the ‘Western lifestyle’. In fact, reports also suggested that North Koreans were not allowed to wear black trench coats and hair-do like Kim Jong Un, as breaking of these rules meant that people were copying the ‘supreme’ leader.

The North Korean Government, in its bid to make people obey the said rules have gone as far as reportedly introducing ‘fashion police’, who are supposed to keep an eye on people and their fashion choices, which ‘should’ be under given guidelines.
Apart from makeup, jeans, trench coats, and certain colours, people in North Korea can reportedly go for only a limited number of hairstyles that are state-approved.
