Viral Video: In a strange but true incident, a couple from Bengaluru landed in the Karnataka High Court not over money or family matters, but because of a cat. What began as a serious legal complaint quickly turned into a topic of viral interest on social media, especially after a video from the courtroom surfaced on X.

Back in December 2024, the wife filed a case against her husband under IPC Section 498A, which usually deals with cruelty or dowry harassment. But as the hearing went on, things took an unexpected turn. It turned out that her main complaint wasn’t just about dowry, but it was about how her husband loved their pet cat more than her.

She told the court that the cat scratched her often, and her husband always took the pet’s side. She felt ignored and emotionally hurt, claiming that her husband’s deep attachment to the cat was affecting their marriage.

The judge, Justice M Nagaprasanna, listened carefully and shared a light moment during the hearing. At first, he assumed the "other woman" in the wife’s complaint was a girlfriend, but later realised it was their cat. The chargesheet even included a photo of the furry feline. In the end, the court said the case didn’t really count as cruelty under the law. The judge called it more of a personal and emotional issue than a criminal one.

Even a pic of the cat is included in the chargesheet." The video shared three days ago received significant likes, comments, and views from people.

"Sometimes I feel bad for judges, too. What all they have to go through? Why people love to file cases is another rocket science question I have had in mind for so long," a third user added. "I sort of feel bad for this judge for having to spend time on this nonsense," added another user.
