Viral Reddit Post: Festivals are meant to bring families closer but for one young woman, Diwali turned into another reminder of emotional pain at home. A 20-year-old woman recently opened up on Reddit about how her parents’ constant fights have made every festive season difficult for her and her post quickly struck a chord with thousands online. Posting on the ‘r/India’ subreddit, she titled her post “Parents fighting on Diwali” and described how what began as a happy morning soon turned into yet another argument between her parents.

“Morning to noon everything was fine. Then one argument happened between my mum and dad (we are only three in my family). My mum left the Diwali puja, and only my father and I continued. It’s nothing new; this happens almost every festival at my home. I’m 20, and this has severely affected me mentally and emotionally. After this, I get a mental breakdown. Has anyone else ever faced a similar situation, or am I the only unlucky one today?” she wrote.

Her honest words moved many Reddit users, who came forward to share their own experiences and offer support. Some said they had faced the same kind of festive distress, while others offered comforting advice and empathy.

"Going through this for ages and today was like no other. So locked myself up in my room and watched Greater Kalesh at noon and now Dhadak 2. Then got mad at the world and here I am on Reddit now to calm my mind," a user wrote. "Stress bubbling at big events. Shadi, Diwali etc. meditation is my recommendation. Don’t let these things impact you. As adults lot of dreams stayed incomplete causing fights. Peace," a second user wrote.

"In the same boat. I fought with them last week. Almost cancelled my flights because of that fight. Then thought how lonely they would be on a festival, decided to hop on the flight and came home. For the last 3 days there’s constant kalesh at home. Idk what to do and why did I even come home," wrote a third user. "We're in the same boat cutie!! I'm 23F and every festival starts and ends with a blown up argument in my house. One diwali my dad left home and was missing for 2 days.
