Viral Video: Rumeysa Gelgi, the world's tallest woman, standing at an incredible height of 7 feet 0.7 inches, recently shared her unique air travel experience. In a video shared by Guinness World Records (GWR), Rumeysa spoke about her journey with Turkish Airlines, expressing her excitement about visiting the United States and the United Kingdom. To ensure her comfort during the 19-hour flight from Istanbul to San Francisco, Turkish Airlines took special measures. They removed six seats to install a stretcher, allowing Rumeysa to lie flat due to her spinal condition.
In the video, Rumeysa Gelgi can be seen boarding the plane while lying on a stretcher, assisted by the airline staff. Expressing her excitement, she said, "I’m literally so excited my heart beats fast. Because of my spine condition, I had to fly on this stretcher. It was great, it was really comfortable." She also shared her joy at being surprised by the crew and the chef with a stunning chocolate cake, adding, "This was so kind, so lovely, it made me emotional, to be honest."

In the comment section, the tallest woman Rumeysa Gelgi explained her rare disease, "Thank you for sharing @guinnessworldrecords and a million times thank you @turkishairlines 🇹🇷 for making this happen. For everyone wondering why I need to lie down during flights: I have a condition called scoliosis, which is severe spinal curvature. I had spinal fusion surgery for it 11 years ago, and my curve has been reduced and doesn’t threaten my life anymore. However, the time I can stay seated is still limited to 1-2 hours at once (it was a maximum of 20 mins before my surgery!). After that period, I need to lie down for a while to relieve the immense pressure on my spine.
Plus, I have 2 long rods and 30 screws in my spine, which prevent my spine from bending or twisting. So I always have to keep my back straight and flat. Flying on a stretcher is the safest -and only- option for me to travel by air. While the reason is not my height of over 7ft but rather my spinal condition, I feel incredibly blessed to have found a way to make air travel possible! she added."

Rumeysa Gelgi, who holds five Guinness World Records titles, is also an activist, public speaker, and researcher. Her remarkable height is a result of Weaver Syndrome, a rare genetic mutation diagnosed at birth, with only about 50 documented cases in medical history.
