If only kids knew how ‘life-threatening’ it becomes to get a day off in working life, they would have never wished to grow up. Time and again, we all have either faced or heard stories of how poorly people were treated for taking office leaves. However, ‘insensitively’ broke the ‘scales’ after a certain dog grooming business owner reacted ‘inhumanly’ towards an employee who recently lost her father. Taking to social media, the poor employee, also a dog groomer, shared the conversation she had with the said boss after coming back from bidding an emotional farewell and pulling the plug on her ICU-admitted father.

As per the post, the employee called up to clarify about the 10-day leaves she ended up taking after her father’s grave conditions and eventual demise. However, the boss instead reminded her about the busy schedule that was left in the office and wrote ‘no matter what you have to show up every day’ in response.

“I have been understanding but I need you to understand that if you want to be a groomer, I need you to show up every day. It’s different if I just have to open and close, but when I have to shift around dogs as often as I’ve had to, it becomes very difficult. While you’re off today, I need you to consider what position is going to be best for you. We all go through a lot of things, but no matter what you have to show up every day. I’m sorry if that seems harsh but I have a business I have to run. I also would usually prefer not having a conversation like this in texts, but it seems to be my only option right now,” the boss’ reply read.

The post was shared on the social media platform Reddit, by the Redditor ‘viviana1994’, with the title ‘My dad died and I’ve missed some work.”

The post further read, “He was in the ICU for 2 weeks so I missed quite a bit of work. I get that it’s not ideal. But I called in today. And this is the response I get.”

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “She can suck it. My dad died suddenly and I got the phone call while at work. I said ‘I have to go’ and walked right out the door without explaining. That night, I texted my manager and explained what happened. She said ‘Don't worry about work. Take as long as you need.’I showed up a week and a half later after receiving flowers from my workplace. When I got back they asked, "Are you sure you're ready to be back?" That's how it should be,” a user read.

“Your boss is the type of person to be like- when my dad was dying, the hospital called us to say our final goodbyes but I had a shift scheduled and I couldn't leave my boss hanging, you should strive to be more like me,” a second user said. “I wouldn't respond. Or ever go back, that text is all I'd need to let that job fall off,” commented a third person. “Just don't go to work. they don't deserve a 2-week notice,” added another.
