CETINJE, Montenegro: A horrifying shooting in the Montenegrin city of Cetinje on Wednesday left 10 people dead, including two children. The tragic incident unfolded roughly 30 kilometres from the capital city, Podgorica.
The suspect, identified only by his initials, A.M., and believed to be 45 years old, fled the scene after the attack. Special police teams have been deployed to search for him. Authorities have not released further details about the individual.
Reports suggest that the shooting was sparked by a heated argument in a bar, which escalated into violence. The police initially confirmed four deaths, but local media outlets, including state television RTCG, later reported that the death toll had risen to 10.
In addition to the fatalities, several others sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at a local hospital. Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajić visited the victims and announced a three-day period of mourning to honour those who lost their lives.
"The perimeter is narrowed ... we will do everything to put this person under control and apprehend him," police director Lazar Scepanovic said.
Expressing grief and sorrow, Prime Minister Milojko Spajić stated, "The news from the capital shrouded our country in black. This senseless act caused immeasurable sorrow and bitterness in each of us. There are no words of comfort. In communication with the Minister of Internal Affairs and the Director of the Police Directorate, I received assurances that they are doing absolutely everything to bring the perpetrator of this heinous crime to justice."

"The Army of Montenegro will join the police in the search. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims and the injured tonight.
Four people who are seriously injured are in KCCG, where they have access to all the medical care available in Montenegro. Doctors are currently fighting for their lives on the operating tables."
"At the session of the National Security Council, we will urgently consider all options, including a complete ban on the possession of weapons. Weapons must not be on the streets and in the hands of those who can harm others," he added.
He appealed to all municipalities to cancel all concerts tonight. The government made a decision at an emergency session: from tomorrow, there will be three days of mourning in our country.
