Air Canada Express Plane Crash Update: An Air Canada Express Bombardier CRJ-900 has collided with a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport (LGA), news agency Reuters reported on Monday. Early images of the accident reveal significant damage to the regional jet's nose and front fuselage.

Several people were injured, including five firefighters, with multiple believed to be in a critical condition, and possible fatalities reported. According to local media reports, the Air Canada Express CRJ-900 from Montreal collided with a fire truck at the airport's Runway 4 during landing. An official response to the collision is still awaited.

LGA airport shuts operations

Accoridng to flight tracking website FlightRadar24, LGA is currently closed after an arriving Air Canada Express CRJ-900 collided with a ground vehicle.

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a ground ⁠stop for all planes at the airport until 0530 GMT, according to a notice from the regulator.

What happened at LaGuardia airport 

An Air Canada Express regional jet collided with a ground vehicle upon landing at New York's LaGuardia airport, according to flight tracking website Flightradar24, in an incident that closed the airport. The CRJ-900 plane, which was coming from Montreal, struck the vehicle at a speed of about 24 miles per hour (39 kph), Flightradar24 said.

The jet was operated by Jazz Aviation, Air Canada's regional partner. The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a ground stop for all planes at the airport until 0530 GMT, according to a notice from the regulator. The FAA notice showed that the reason for the halt at the airport was an emergency and there was a high probability of an extension, without specifying any details.
