Two women passengers were kicked off an Air Canada flight for refusing to sit in vomit-covered seats. The incident happened on August 26 on a flight from Las Vegas to Montreal and was shared by a fellow passenger, Susan Benson on the social media platform Facebook. The airline apologised to the customers and said it was reviewing the matter internally.

According to Benson, the seats and seatbelts were still wet and had vomit residue from the previous flight. The airline tried to mask the smell with perfume and coffee grinds but it did not work. The passengers complained to the flight attendant who said the flight was full and there was nothing they could do.

“There was a bit of a foul smell but we didn’t know at first what the problem was. Apparently, on the previous flight, someone had vomited in that area. Air Canada attempted a quick cleanup before boarding but clearly wasn’t able to do a thorough clean,” Benson wrote on Facebook narrating the incident.

The situation escalated when a supervisor and a pilot repeated the same message and threatened to kick them out off the plane by security and place them on a no-fly list. Benson said the passengers were not rude but firm and upset. They were eventually removed from the plane.

Benson expressed her outrage and shame at Air Canada’s treatment of its customers. She said the airline “literally expects” its passengers “to sit in vomit or be escorted off the plane and placed on a no-fly list!”

Air Canada issued a statement to CNN, saying it apologised to the customers and followed up with them directly. It said its operating procedures were not followed correctly in this instance and the airline authority is reviewing this serious matter internally.
