An American Airlines flight carrying many members of Congress at Reagan Washington National Airport was impacted on the taxiway by the wingtip of another American Airlines plane, the Federal Aviation Administration said on Thursday.

According to the FAA, at around 12:45 PM ET, American Airlines Flight 5490, a Bombardier CRJ 900 bound for Charleston, South Carolina, collided with American Flight 4522, an Embraer E175 bound for New York JFK.

Fortunately, according to two lawmakers on board, there were no reported injuries.

According to a social media post by New York Republican Rep Nick LaLota, at least two members of Congress were on board one of the planes involved in Thursday's ground crash at Washington's Reagan National Airport.

NBC News reported that American Airlines Flight 4522, which was hit by another plane while taxiing, carried five lawmakers in all.

According to FlightAware's flight tracking data, Republic Airways' Flight 4522 was supposed to take off from DCA at 12:30 PM and arrive at New York's JFK Airport around ninety minutes later.

Social media users Rich (@RosnaRecaps) and Mark Elion (@get_sumner) verified the occurrence. The former posted a picture of the planes from another flight he was on that was halted on the runway because of the incident. Elion shared a post from one of the impacted planes on X.

Another traveler on one of the aircraft, Gregory Gillian, shared a video taken inside the aircraft on X and sent it to NBC News.
