A terrifying incident unfolded at Green Mountain Park in Taif, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday, when a popular amusement park ride known as '360 Degrees' snapped mid-air, sending at least 23 riders crashing to the ground. The shocking event was caught on camera and quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread concern and prompting an urgent investigation by local authorities.
The video footage shows the pendulum-style ride swinging high from side to side, packed with riders enjoying the thrill. Laughter and excitement turned into horror within seconds. A loud crackling noise pierces the air as the ride’s central support pole snaps into two, causing the circular platform, still full of people, to plummet to the ground with a sickening thud.
Screams filled the air as riders clung to their seats, praying and panicking during the final seconds before impact. Bystanders can be heard shouting in fear and disbelief as the heavy machinery collapses onto the concrete floor.
Injuries And Emergency Response
According to reports from Khaleej Times, 23 people were critically injured while the remaining victims sustained minor wounds. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene, noting that injuries occurred both from the impact of the collapsing ride and the recoil of the broken pole, which struck individuals on the opposite side. Some victims were also hurt while trying to escape the wreckage still strapped into their seats.
Hospitals in the Taif region declared a Code Yellow emergency. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, providing first aid before transferring the injured to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
Viral Video Sparks Public Outcry
Several phone recordings show panicked crowds gathering near the debris, while police cordoned off the area and began securing the site. The disturbing video has been widely circulated on social media, raising questions about ride maintenance and safety protocols at amusement parks across the country.

The exact cause of the ride's malfunction remains unknown, though preliminary suspicions point to either mechanical failure due to high speed or potential structural damage that went undetected. Authorities have launched a formal investigation to determine whether negligence or lapses in safety inspections played a role.
