Amid heightening tensions between India and Pakistan after the recent Pahalgam terror attack, The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has seized Mangocher town in the Kalat district, burning government offices and occupying the strategic Quetta-Karachi Highway. According to reports cited by India Today, the BLA’s armed wing taken control of government premises and made hostages of some military and government officials.

On Friday evening, masked armed men suspected to be linked to the BLA reportedly closed the Quetta-Karachi Highway at Mangocher. According to reports in Dawn, the group stopped several vehicles, including private cars and passenger buses, and searched them.

Witnesses said the armed men stormed into the Mangocher bazaar and burned down a number of government buildings. This follows the recent fatal IED attack just conducted by the BLA in which 10 Pakistani army troops were killed.

Up to this moment, the government of Pakistan has not officially reported on the state of Mangocher town or released a full statement regarding the attack. Security forces are said to be mobilizing for a counterattack to recapture control.
