A strong explosion shook Balochistan on Sunday, claiming at least four lives and injuring 20 individuals. The blast was near Jabbar Market in Killa Abdullah district, near the back wall of a Frontier Corps (FC) fort, triggering panic in the busy commercial area.

According to The Express Tribune, Several shops collapsed, and fires erupted in multiple establishments following the explosion. Killa Abdullah Deputy Commissioner Riaz Khan, confirmed the number of casualties and stated the explosion caused extensive damage to the area. "Four individuals have been killed and 20 others injured. Rescue teams were deployed immediately after the incident," said Khan. Following the explosion, a brief exchange of gunfire was reported between unidentified assailants and Frontier Corps personnel stationed at the nearby fort.  Law enforcement officials sealed off the area and launched a comprehensive search and clearance operation.

Officials have yet to establish the motive of the attack or the nature of the explosive device used. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the explosion. Among the wounded was a guard of prominent Baloch leader Haji Faizullah Khan Ghabizai, as well as some local onlookers who had been passing through the market at the time of the blast. The wounded were taken to local hospitals, and emergency responders are still on high alert.

Growing Violence in Balochistan During Deep-Seated Unrest

Sunday’s blast comes just days after four Levies personnel died in a gun attack at a check post in Nal area of Khuzdar district, highlighting the explosive security situation in Balochistan. Balochistan has been facing unrest for about two decades due to allegations by the local ethnic Baloch groups and parties that the federal government was exploiting the mineral wealth of the province.
